Designed specifically to help young beginners navigate their way around the guitar as they are learning TAB. These colourful emojis act as visual cues which have proven to speed up the the learning process for young beginners. More importantly they make it fun as making music comes first.
Very simple ! watch the demonstration video where Coco (9yrs of age) walks you through the steps. They are made with a non aggressive adhesive surface that is easily removed. They wont damage the guitar or leave behind any nasty residue like a lot of other fretboard stickers on the market.
In a nutshell it is easier to say to a young beginner, “Place your first finger on the Robot” as apposed to “Put your first finger on the E string of the first fret”
Of course it’s important that the student knows the string names and fret positions and that is very much part of this course. However the guitar is a very tactile instrument and establishing muscle memory first has proven to get faster results. They are merely visual cues or road signs used to build that initial confidence.
We call them training wheels for the guitar as we encourage the student to remove them once they pass the quiz questions and build confidence. 85% of Adults start playing guitar and actually give up. If a child can start playing with the assistance of a few road signs why not! Kids Guitar Dojo is about young beginners having fun and actually getting started. Not surprisingly many adults have taken up guitar by using the kids guitar dojo method.
Kids Guitar Dojo is not like other online guitar teaching platforms. Most websites provide access to multiple video tutorials with no real clear practice goals or objectives. We designed a Gamification system that gives the student a purpose and drives daily practice. Student’s simply login to the members area and follow the steps. For every 7 days of practice the student is awarded a badge. By the time the student has finished the book they will have earn’t 6 badges. It’s fine to miss a day as lessons are marked complete on a day to day basis.
This does a number of things for early musical development:
Along with the badges students are also rewarded with our own virtual currency (dojo dollars) which they can spend in the Kids Guitar Dojo Online Store. Bonus songs, educational games and colouring in books related to the guitar are some of the things they can spend their Dojo dollars on.
Students take part in multiple choice quizzes to further reinforce the lessons. String names, fret positions, beats and bars, time signatures are all covered.
YouTube maybe a great resource but it’s also full of distractions, Kids Guitar Dojo has a clear learning path that both students and parents can follow. In fact many parents have taken up the guitar and completed the course with their kids.
My 5 yr old son was playing a simple tune in the first week, He got a real buzz playing along to the backing tracks. I highly recommend this course, it's a great vehicle for young beginners.

Removing The Fretboard markers is simple; the material is a non destructive adhesive so comes off easily. In fact some students have taken them off and placed them back on again.
Once the student passes a series of QUIZ questions their confidence grows and they will know the names of the strings and fretboard positions. This can happen in the first month for some students , others take a little longer.
We have carefully selected 3 sized guitars: 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 size which can be purchased from a selected store and delivered anywhere in the world. Read this article on how to select the right sized guitar for a child.
With The book, stickers and website materials its a very easy system to follow. Each lesson from the book has a video which breaks down each lesson step by step. Ideally a parent would help them get signed into the website and get the stickers onto the guitar. We ask all parents to watch the welcome video inside the members area with their child before starting.
5 days a week 15-20 minutes per day is recommended, anything beyond that is great. Many children enjoy playing along with backing tracks and spend more time in the members area.
Kids will not only learn popular songs like Happy Birthday and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star , they will also get the opportunity to play popular songs. Book 1 is just the 1st Step but the most important part of their guitar playing journey.
